Why does God not punish Christians and Jews, and why are Muslims lagging while Christians and Jews are advanced?

The delay in punishment and destruction for disbelievers has many wisdoms, among them: that Allah is Forgiving and Merciful, and He delays their punishment so that they may repent and submit. And among His attributes, the Exalted, is forbearance; He does not hasten punishment but grants respite and does not neglect. Moreover, the punishment of disbelievers is inevitably coming in the Hereafter, and this delay increases their sin until they meet their Lord with their transgression amplified.

As for the advancement of disbelievers in worldly matters, it does not exceed worldly affairs. They are heedless of the true knowledge of Allah and the Hereafter. Allah has enabled them with means of knowledge, but they have used them only for this world. Allah has set cosmic laws for the advancement of nations; whoever seizes the means of power will attain it. The disbeliever is given the recompense for his good deeds in this world so that he will have nothing in the Hereafter. This does not mean that believers should abandon the means of strength; rather, they are commanded to seize them and prepare all they can to instill terror in their enemies.
