Is the word "democracy" derived from Islam, and what is the ruling on promoting it?

Democracy is a Greek word meaning "rule of the people." It is a system that grants legislative authority to the people or their representatives, which contradicts Islam, as Islam reserves judgment for Allah alone. Democracy may legislate matters that contradict innate human nature (fitra) and religion, such as abortion and same-sex marriage. Allah Almighty is the Wisest of judges, and He has informed us that judgment belongs to Him alone, and that no one is better in judgment than Him. Allah Almighty said: (So the judgment is with Allah, the Exalted, the Grand) Ghafir/12, and Allah Almighty said: (The judgment is for none but Allah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him. That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know) Yusuf/40. Democratic systems are considered a form of polytheism (shirk) in obedience and legislation because they abolish the sovereignty of the Creator and His right to legislate.

Democracy does not necessarily mean absolute freedom. Freedom within it is restricted by law, custom, and public taste. It permits slandering religion and messengers under the pretext of freedom of expression, while restricting this freedom in other matters, such as denying the "Jewish Holocaust."

Democracy differs from Islamic Shura (consultation) in several ways: 1. Shura applies to new matters for which there is no explicit religious text, while "rule of the people" discusses definitive religious injunctions. 2. The Shura council consists of people of knowledge, jurisprudence, and good morals, while democratic representative councils do not require this. 3. Shura is not binding on the ruler, whereas the majority agreement in a democracy becomes a binding law.

Muslims must be proud of their religion, trust in the judgments of their Lord, disavow systems that contradict the law of Allah, and adhere to Islam outwardly and inwardly.
