What is the ruling on an autistic, introverted person performing the five daily prayers and Friday prayer at home?
The Friday prayer is an obligation upon every free, accountable, male Muslim, except for those with a valid excuse. Introversion is not an excuse for abandoning it, unless the psychological illness reaches a level where attendance becomes impossible. In such a case, he is permitted to forgo it because he is considered like a sick person. He must, however, seek treatment and strive to overcome the illness. As for other prayers, he may pray in congregation at home with his family. However, he should not surrender to the illness, as he would then miss out on the reward associated with attending congregational prayers, remembrance gatherings, and knowledge sessions.
