How can a young man steeped in sins return to Almighty Allah, and what is the path for his repentance to be accepted after committing crimes of blackmail, slander, and fabricating accusations against others? And must he contact all those who were harmed to inform them of the truth and seek their forgiveness?

The door of repentance is open for those who have transgressed against themselves with sins, no matter how great, as Allah Almighty says: "Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'" And Allah replaces the evil deeds of sincere repenters with good deeds. Repentance is accepted as long as the sun has not risen from the west and the servant has not reached the death rattle.

Regarding the rights of others, whatever is easy to return should be returned. For what is not easy, one should resort to Allah Almighty to appease the adversaries on the Day of Resurrection, and profusely seek forgiveness. If the oppressor fears that returning the rights would increase the oppressed's anger, then let him turn to Allah Almighty with supplication and sincerity so that Allah may appease his adversaries.

The repenter should also increase good deeds and acts of obedience, for good deeds erase evil deeds.
