Is it obligatory to circulate the message containing the hadith: "Whoever invokes blessings upon me a thousand times in one day, will not die until I give him glad tidings of Paradise. And whoever circulates this hadith, has loved me, and whoever conceals it, has regretted it. Send it as much as you love the Prophet"? And what is the authenticity of this hadith, and is it obligatory to warn against it if it is not authentic?

The aforementioned Hadith is weak and not authentically attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him; in fact, it has been said to be severely weak and rejected (munkar). It is not permissible for a Muslim to disseminate Ahadith without first verifying their authenticity, lest he spread a fabricated Hadith and thus be among those who lied about the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, thereby incurring the warning mentioned in the Hadith: "Whoever attributes to me what I have not said, let him prepare his seat in the Fire." Clarifying the weakness of Ahadith and alerting Muslims to their status is considered an act of sincerity to the religion. Al-Suyuti reported from Al-Daraqutni that it was the practice of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the Rightly Guided Caliphs to defend his Sunnah and to refute false reports attributed to it.
