Can animals afflict humans with the evil eye?

Firstly: It has been established that both humans and jinn can inflict the evil eye (al-ayn), as mentioned in the noble prophetic tradition, "The evil eye is real." Examples of this include Sahl ibn Hunaif being afflicted by the evil eye from 'Amir ibn Rabi'ah, and a young girl being afflicted by a "gaze" which could be from the eye of jinn or humans.

Secondly: As for the evil eye of animals, there is no explicit evidence that animals can inflict the evil eye in the same way as humans and jinn. However, it has been established that some animals can cause harm and damage with their gaze, such as snakes and dogs, which can harm eyesight and cause miscarriages in pregnant women. Al-Zuhri explained this as being due to the venom of these animals, not from the evil eye that originates from admiration. Ibn Abbas mentioned that dogs are from the jinn and have "anfus" (souls/eyes) that can harm sight. Therefore, it was disliked to eat in front of predatory animals for fear of their "anfus and eyes." It is also advised to feed them or move them away when eating.
