How is the evil eye that afflicts an animal, a tree, a building, a car, or anything else non-human treated, if the prescribed remedies for the evil eye in Sharia (washing with the water used by the envier or Ruqyah) are specific to humans?
The scholars mentioned that the treatment for an animal or inanimate object afflicted by the evil eye is the same as that for a human. Sheikh Ibn Jibreen was asked about performing ruqyah (exorcism/healing prayer) for a car using the wudu' (ablution) water of the person who cast the evil eye and pouring it into its radiator. He permitted this, reasoning that the evil eye can affect animals and inanimate objects, and its treatment involves using the wudu' water or wash water of the person who cast the eye and pouring it on the afflicted. This is supported by the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "And if you are asked to wash, then wash," and by the saying of some of the predecessors that whoever is pleased by something should say: "Maa shaa Allahu la quwwata illa billah (What Allah wills, there is no power except with Allah)."
