What is the ruling on saying "Astaghfirullah" (I seek forgiveness from Allah) after burping?

It has not been reported in the Sunnah of the Prophet that seeking forgiveness or uttering "Alhamdulillah" (Praise be to Allah) is prescribed after burping. Burping is a natural human act, like yawning, for which no specific remembrance has been mentioned. This is unlike sneezing, for which it has been reported, "When one of you sneezes, let him praise Allah." Therefore, anything for which a reason existed during the time of the Prophet, peace be upon him, and he did not do it, then doing it is not from the Sunnah.
