Is it permissible to use magazines and cartoon drawings for children as an alternative to television, or not?

Magazines and cartoon films are permissible if they promote virtue and Islamic etiquette, and are free from forbidden elements such as music and impermissible images. Excluded from the prohibition are images and statues specifically for children, for their education and entertainment.
