What is the reward and merit of saying: "All praise is due to Allah, who has sufficed me and given me refuge; all praise is due to Allah, who has fed me and given me drink; and all praise is due to Allah, who has bestowed His grace and favor upon me" before sleeping? And is it true that the one who says it praises Allah with all the praises of creation? And what is the meaning of that and its reward?

The hadith narrated by Ibn al-Sunni, al-Hakim, and al-Bayhaqi from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever says when he goes to his bed: 'All praise is due to Allah who sufficed me and sheltered me, and all praise is due to Allah who fed me and gave me drink, and all praise is due to Allah who bestowed His favor upon me and was generous to me, and I ask You by Your might to save me from the Fire,' except that he has praised Allah Almighty with the praises of all creation," revolves around Khalaf ibn al-Mundhir, who is of unknown status. However, some scholars deem the hadith authentic or good (hasan), and Imam al-Albani considered it authentic.

Assuming the authenticity of the hadith, its meaning is that this form of praise, which includes praise for sufficiency, shelter, food, drink, and general favor, makes the one who says it as if he has praised Allah with the praises of all creation. This clarifies the virtue of this formula and the abundance of its reward, as comprehensive formulas of praise bring great reward, as mentioned in the hadith of Juwayriyah (may Allah be pleased with her), which was cited by al-Qurtubi.
