Is committing suicide with the intention of meeting Allah a reason for entering Hellfire?

Suicide is one of the gravest sins, and there is no suicide in Islam with the intention of seeing Allah or drawing closer to Him. This is because a servant does not draw closer to his Lord by that which He has forbidden. Allah has threatened the one who commits suicide with severe torment and painful punishment, and has forbidden Paradise to him.

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, clarified that the one who commits suicide will be punished on the Day of Resurrection with the same means by which he killed himself, as narrated in the hadith of Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him: "Whoever throws himself from a mountain and kills himself will be in the Fire of Hell, throwing himself down therein forever and ever. And whoever drinks poison and kills himself, his poison will be in his hand, which he will drink in the Fire of Hell forever and ever. And whoever kills himself with an iron weapon, his weapon will be in his hand, which he will stab into his belly in the Fire of Hell forever and ever." And in the hadith of Thabit ibn al-Dahhak: "Whoever kills himself with something in this world will be tormented with it on the Day of Resurrection." And in the hadith of Jundub ibn Abdullah: "There was a man among those before you who had a wound, and he became impatient, so he took a knife and cut his hand with it. The bleeding did not stop until he died. Allah the Almighty said: 'My servant hastened to take his own life, so I have forbidden Paradise to him.'"

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, refrained from performing the funeral prayer for the one who committed suicide, as a punishment for him and a deterrent for others, as he did with the man who killed himself with arrowheads.

Drawing closer to Allah the Almighty is achieved through what He has legislated, and the best of this is performing the obligatory duties, followed by the supererogatory acts, based on the saying of Allah the Almighty in the Hadith Qudsi: "My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more beloved to Me than that which I have made obligatory upon him. And My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory deeds until I love him."
