How do we make the love of God supersede the love of our parents?

The love of Allah is more comprehensive and encompassing; it is one of the fundamentals of faith. Its proof lies in obeying His commands and the commands of His Messenger (peace be upon him). This necessitates loving one's parents, for the love of parents is evidence of a servant's love for Allah, by fulfilling His commands to revere and respect them.
