How can the love of Allah be deepened so that it is deeper than the love of parents, self, and everything in existence?

The love of Allah is a great principle among the principles of faith. Whoever possesses it finds thereby the sweetness of faith. This love is attained by certainty that Allah is the Creator and the Bestower of blessings, by reflecting on the dominion of the heavens and the earth, by contemplating His names and attributes, by knowing that every beloved thing in this world is from Allah's grace, by having certainty that faith is not complete except by prioritizing the love of Allah above everything else, and by supplicating to Allah to grant you His love. One must avoid using the term "ishq" (passionate, often worldly, love/adoration) in reference to Allah, and instead confine oneself to the term "hubb Allah" (love of Allah) or "muhabbah" (His love).
