Is it permissible for my daughter to drink from cups and eat from dishes that have drawings of cartoon characters on them?

Pictures on cups and food containers do not fall under the ruling of forbidden pictures, as they are considered to be treated with disrespect. However, it is preferable to avoid them to prevent a child from becoming attached to cartoon pictures and the negative educational effects they might have. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen mentioned that pictures widely found on everything, such as utensils, books, newspapers, and also pictures on food items, if not acquired for the sake of the pictures themselves and are there due to hardship and difficulty, then there is no harm in them, because they involve a degree of disrespect.
