A Muslim whose heart has not been entered by faith is likely either a hypocrite who conceals disbelief, and his recompense is the lowest pit of Hell, or one weak in faith, and his recompense is according to his faith and deeds, and Allah may bestow His forgiveness upon him. The verse: (Say, "You have not believed, but say, 'We have submitted,' for faith has not yet entered your hearts") addresses both groups. For "(has not yet entered)" means either that it has not entered at all (for the hypocrites) or that it has not entered completely (for the one weak in faith), and "yet" indicates the imminent entry of faith. And if they obey Allah and His Messenger, He will not diminish anything from their deeds, and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
