Is an employee entitled to keep the renewable discount code or give it to a friend? What is the ruling on the money saved from the discount? Is it permissible for the employee to dispose of it without the company's knowledge?
The seller has the right to set the price and to increase or decrease it according to the buyer, based on the generality of Allah's statement: "And Allah has permitted trade and forbidden interest" (Quran 2:275), and "unless it is trade by mutual consent from you" (Quran 4:29). If the seller designates a specific category for a discount, it is not permissible for others to resort to deception to benefit from it; otherwise, it would be consuming wealth unlawfully, based on Allah's statement: "And do not consume one another's wealth unjustly" (Quran 2:188), and the Prophet's (PBUH) saying: "The wealth of a Muslim is not lawful except with his willing consent." Therefore, if the company allocates a discount for individuals but not for companies, an employee taking the code to benefit from this discount is considered deception, and the money must be returned to the selling company along with repentance. It is not permissible to give the code to anyone who might use it for deception.
