Is what was narrated about Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace be upon him) true, that he said: "The Kurds are a generation of jinn from whom the cover was removed"? And is it true that Sulaiman (peace be upon him) was the one who named them Kurds?

The statement mentioned about the Kurds being pure fabrication has no basis in the books of Sunnah, and its context is closer to myths. Kurds are like other human beings, and their Muslim members are brothers. There have been great leaders and scholars among them, such as Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi. Slandering their lineage and claiming that they are from jinn is false and impermissible.
