Did Sheikh Ibn Taymiyyah have any connection with the the Wahhabi movement?

The term "Wahhabism" was coined and applied to the da‘wah (call/invitation) of Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Wahhab by the enemies of his da‘wah, in order to repel people from it. In reality, it is a da‘wah that aligns with the methodology of the righteous predecessors (Salaf as-Salih). The Shaykh's da‘wah was an extension of the da‘wah of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, relying on the Qur’an and Sunnah, adhering to the methodology of the Salaf, calling to Tawhid (monotheism) and renouncing shirk (polytheism), affirming Allah’s Names and Attributes, and rejecting sectarian partisanship. Shaykh Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Wahhab paid particular attention to the books of Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim. Despite this influence, the Shaykh was not a blind follower (muqallid) of Ibn Taymiyyah; rather, he followed the evidence, and he differed with him on some jurisprudential issues, which demonstrates his profound knowledge in the sciences and his extensive erudition.
