What is the difference between "Wahhabism" attributed to Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, and the misguided sect that emerged in North Africa, also called "Wahhabism"?

"Wahhabism" is a title for the "Wahhabiyya al-Rustumiyya" sect of the Kharijite Ibadis that emerged in North Africa in the second century Hijri. Its methodology, beliefs, and time differ from the Salafi movement of Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, which appeared in the late twelfth century Hijri. This title was used deceptively to alienate people from the Salafi movement of Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab and to mislead them into believing that it was an innovation (bid'ah) or a Kharijite movement. Scholars have clarified this significant difference between the two groups.
