Should a Muslim going for Umrah assume ihram from the miqat for the people of Yanbu, or from Jeddah, intending to perform it on the second day of his arrival in Jeddah, knowing that he works in Yanbu and returns to Jeddah to spend the weekend holiday?

If the travel is solely to visit family, then it is permissible to enter into a state of ihram for Umrah from Jeddah, as ruled by Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen. However, if the travel is primarily for Umrah from the outset, then it is obligatory to enter into a state of ihram from the Miqat that the traveler passes through before reaching Jeddah.
