Is the marriage contract concluded between a woman and her fiancé in the presence of a Sharia-authorized marriage officiant (ma'dhoun shar'i) and two witnesses, but without documentation in court, considered void? What is the expiation for this act? Does the woman have to observe an 'iddah (waiting period) after this marriage? And is it permissible for her to marry her first ex-husband immediately after the divorce, or after the 'iddah has ended?

It is stated in "Fatawa Al-Lajnah Ad-Daimah" (Fatwas of the Permanent Committee): "Congregational prayer is obligatory upon able-bodied men in the mosque, due to the saying of Allah the Almighty: ﴿And when you are among them and lead them in prayer, let a group of them stand with you﴾ [An-Nisa: 102], and the saying of Ibn Umm Maktum: 'O Messenger of Allah, I do not have a guide to lead me to the mosque. Do I have a concession to pray in my house?' The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to him: 'Do you hear the call to prayer?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then respond.' Narrated by Muslim in his Sahih.

As for a woman's prayer in her home: it is better for her than her prayer in the mosque, due to what Imam Ahmad narrated in his Musnad, from Umm Humayd, the wife of Abu Humayd As-Sa’idi, that she came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I love to pray with you.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'I know that you love to pray with me. Your prayer in your house is better for you than your prayer in your private chamber, and your prayer in your private chamber is better for you than your prayer in your courtyard, and your prayer in your courtyard is better for you than your prayer in the mosque of your people, and your prayer in the mosque of your people is better for you than your prayer in this mosque of mine.'

This Hadith is a clear text that a woman's prayer in her home is better than her prayer in the mosque. If she prays in her home with her children or with her husband, she will, Allah willing, receive the reward of congregational prayer."
