Drawing living beings is strictly prohibited. Some scholars have permitted drawings that are incomplete in a way that the living being could not survive, such as cutting off the head, chest, or abdomen, or depicting it without a head, or with a detached head. If what is removed is something without which life cannot persist, then it is not a forbidden image. However, if the incompleteness does not prevent life, such as the loss of an eye, hand, or leg, then the image remains and is prohibited. Some believe that an image of a head, even if by itself and clearly defined, is not permissible. Writing the name "Abdullah" on images is not considered a desecration of the name.
