The question

After I stopped watching pornographic channels and calling their numbers, and receiving sexual messages and calls, do I have to inform the telecom companies to track and block these numbers, and is this duty only on me or also on the shaykh?

The answer

Watching pornographic channels and requesting obscene sexual messages are forbidden acts that necessitate repentance through abstinence, remorse, and a firm resolve not to return to them. It is advisable to inform the competent authorities about the numbers that send these messages, as this constitutes a change of evil and prevents oneself from falling into it. Informing them often leads to the prevention of this evil. Reporting evil is obligatory upon you if no one else knows about it or is unable to change it, as long as you are capable of doing so and it does not result in a greater harm. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; if he cannot, then with his tongue; if he cannot, then with his heart—and that is the weakest of faith."
