What is the ruling on one who enters into a state of Ihram for Hajj from Makkah as a Mutamatti‘? Is one sheep or two sheep obligatory upon him? And what are the implications for one who enters into a state of Ihram from Makkah as a Qarin? And is it better for him to perform Hajj as a Mufrid? And is staying in Makkah after performing the rituals forbidden?

Enjoying Hajj (Tamattu') means entering into ihram for 'Umrah during the months of Hajj, then desacralizing, then entering into ihram for Hajj. The person performing Tamattu' sacrifices a sheep, or one-seventh of a camel or a cow if they are from outside Mecca (an Afaqi).

Scholars differed regarding the permissibility of Tamattu' and Qiran for the Makkans. The majority of scholars consider them permissible for the Meccan, and that no sacrifice is obligatory upon them. The Meccan enters into ihram for 'Umrah from the nearest point outside the Haram (adna al-hill) and for Hajj from Mecca itself.

The three types of rituals (Qiran, Tamattu', and Ifrad) are permissible by consensus. Tamattu' is considered superior according to the Hanbalis.

Residing in Mecca after performing the rituals is not forbidden, but it is better for the Afaqi to hasten back to their family.
