What is the ruling regarding a wife who has been proven to have cheated on her husband by letting a strange man into her home and him having sexual intercourse with her? Does she have a right to the marital home after her divorce? And how should her family deal with her?

Adultery is a grave sin and a major transgression. If a woman commits adultery, her husband may make things difficult for her to ransom herself with her money, but her dower (mahr) is not forfeited merely by adultery. If he divorces her, she has the rights of a divorced woman, including accommodation and maintenance, according to the type of divorce and her waiting period (iddah). Her family must advise her to repent and conceal her sin, and they are not permitted to carry out the prescribed punishment (hadd) upon her, as hadd punishments are the prerogative of the ruler and not individuals. The fundamental principle is concealment and suffice to her repentance between her and Allah.
