Is it permissible to collectively recite the Quran and to listen to religious praises and chants, knowing that they might distract from reading the Quran, and what is the meaning of the noble Prophetic saying: "When you see praisers, throw dust in their faces"?

Reciting the Quran collectively in one voice is disliked by scholars because it contradicts the practice of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and his Companions, and due to the potential for confusion it may cause. As for listening to praises of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and religious chants, there is no harm in it, and it may even be desirable, as long as it is not accompanied by prohibited elements such as music, intermingling of sexes, or if it distracts from an obligation; otherwise, it would be forbidden or disliked. The Hadith, "When you see those who praise excessively, throw dust in their faces," is authentic, and the prohibition in it is understood to apply to excessive praise or praise that might cause the praised person to become arrogant. However, praise that is free from exaggeration and serves a beneficial purpose, such as encouraging good deeds, is not prohibited.
