What is the religious ruling on reciting the Qur'an collectively after the Fajr and Maghrib prayers? Is it considered a reprehensible innovation (bid'ah)?

Reciting the Quran collectively in one voice is an innovation (bid'ah) that has no basis in Islamic law. It was neither part of the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) nor the practice of his Companions. An exception is made for teaching young children, to correct their pronunciation and performance. Otherwise, such an act is rejected, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever performs an action that is not in accordance with our matter, it will be rejected."
