The contracting party must fulfill the agreement concluded between the two parties and respect the prevailing custom regarding delaying cohabitation until the expiration of the agreed-upon term. The wife has the right to refuse cohabitation based on this agreement. It is permissible to delay consummating the marriage after the عقد (marriage contract) by mutual agreement of the spouses, and if they do not specify a term, then custom is the reference. There is no harm in expediting consummation with their mutual consent, even if they had previously delayed it.
