Does falling into sins, especially forbidden glances and masturbation, lead to forgetting knowledge and the Qur’an, given the intense remorse and the lack of insistence on them, knowing that there is a strong desire for marriage but an inability to do so?

Sins bring ill fortune and have a detrimental effect on the one who commits them. They deprive a person of knowledge and sustenance, create a sense of estrangement between the sinner and his Lord and people, make affairs difficult, cause darkness in the heart and face, prevent one from performing acts of obedience, propagate similar sins, weaken the will to do good and to repent, and make the heart no longer deem sin reprehensible.

To overcome this, a Muslim should: 1. Supplicate to Allah and implore Him during blessed times. 2. Increase in acts of worship, especially prayer, for good deeds erase bad deeds. 3. Increase in knowledge of Allah through His names and attributes and by contemplating His creation, which instills shyness before Him. 4. Understand that the path to Paradise requires struggle and patience. 5. Lower his gaze, as it brings great benefits such as purity, preventing the poisonous arrow's effect from reaching the heart, attaining the sweetness of faith and true discernment, and freeing the heart from sorrow and the captivity of lust. 6. Occupy himself with beneficial activities and attend lessons to avoid idleness. 7. Seek out righteous companionship that will aid him in obedience. 8. Avoid the causes that arouse lust. 9. Abandon masturbation because it is forbidden and unbecoming of the self.

Finally, one must hasten to repent, be mindful of Allah's grandeur and His constant awareness, and feel shyness before Him, just as one feels shyness before righteous people, for nothing is hidden from Allah the Almighty.
