Does the deceased feel the passage of time or do they sleep until the Day of Resurrection?

Time passes quickly for the deceased, and their awareness of it is even less than that of a sleeping person. Ibn Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy on him, mentioned that the dead do not perceive the passage of time, citing the story of the man whom Allah caused to die for a hundred years and then resurrected him—yet he felt as if only a day or part of a day had passed. Similarly, the People of the Cave remained for three hundred years, plus nine more, but it seemed to them like a short period. Death accelerates the perception of time, and the deceased does not feel the passage of long years, as if they had just died.
