How authentic is the narration reported from Omar ibn Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him: "My wife has endured me. She washed my clothes, spread out my bed, raised my children, and cleaned my house; she does all that, and God has not commanded her to do so, and she has borne all that—should I not then bear with her?"?

A man came to Umar ibn al-Khattab complaining about his wife's bad character. He then heard Umar's wife raising her voice at him while he remained silent, so the man turned away. Umar called him and asked him about his need. The man told him what he had heard and seen. Umar said, "I endure her because of the rights she has over me: she cooks my food, bakes my bread, washes my clothes, nurses my child, and none of that is obligatory upon her. And my heart finds peace with her, keeping me away from unlawful acts. So, I endure her for that." The man said, "And so is my wife!"
