Is a wife's leaving her husband for her studies considered disobedience to him, and is a woman's study, specifically of Andalusian literature, considered among the permissible forms of seeking knowledge?

The fundamental principle is that a woman's place is in her home, preserving her modesty and dignity. This is why the command came in His (Allah's) saying: "And abide in your houses." Thus, a woman earns the reward of striving in the way of Allah through her profession within her home.

Therefore, you must try to persuade your husband, in a gentle and polite manner, to stay at home to care for the children and household matters. You can seek help from someone who has influence over him.

If he is convinced, then so be it. But if he insists, and if it does not affect your health or the upbringing of your children, and if there is nothing unlawful in it, then it is preferable to agree. You are not obligated to obey him. However, if it involves disobedience, such as unlawful mixing or neglecting the children, then you are not obliged to obey him, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, obedience is only in what is right."
