Is a person considered a mutamatti‘ if he performs ‘Umrah in Shawwal and returns to his place of residence within the Mīqāt boundaries, then wishes to perform Hajj in the same year?

If you reside in Jeddah and intend to perform Hajj this year after an Umrah in Shawwal, then you are a mutamatti‘ (one performing Hajj at-tamattu‘). However, you are not required to offer the hadiy (sacrificial animal) for tamattu‘, because Jeddah is not at a distance that necessitates shortening prayers from Mecca. Therefore, you are considered among "the residents of Al-Masjid Al-Haram."
