Is the statement that rest in Medina is greater than rest in Mecca correct and supported by Islamic proof, or is it merely an illusion?

Many Muslims who have visited Makkah and Madinah feel more comfort and enjoyment in Madinah than in Makkah. This might be due to the Prophet's supplication: "O Allah, make Madinah beloved to us as You have made Makkah beloved to us, or even more so. And transfer its fever to Al-Juhfah. O Allah, bless us in our mudd and our sa." This feeling is an innate human disposition, unrelated to religious obligation, and there is no blame in it.
