Is it legislated for me to say "Praise be to Allah, who returned my soul to me and granted well-being to my body" upon waking from sleep in a bad state?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is sunnah for one who awakens from sleep to say: "All praise is due to Allah, Who has granted me health in my body, returned my soul to me, and permitted me to remember Him." This is as stated in the hadith of Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him. This supplication is to be recited in all circumstances, for a Muslim is always in a state of well-being from Allah, and the remembrance of Allah is prescribed at all times.
