What is the ruling on saying to someone, "Your face brought us good fortune" (or "Your face is sweet upon us") when a pleasant event occurs?

There is no harm in a man saying to his companion, "Your face is sweet upon us," if the intention is optimism. A person might be optimistic about the arrival of another due to his righteousness, or the beauty and cheerfulness of his face, or the goodness of his name. Indeed, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was optimistic about good names and faces, as in the hadith of Buraydah: "He would not practice divination from anything, and when he sent a worker, he would ask about his name, and if his name pleased him, he would rejoice in it." And the saying, "Your face is a face of good for me," is permissible and falls under the category of optimism.
