Is reading the biographies of the righteous and their sayings a waste of time, or is reading the Qur'an and Hadith more deserving? And is it necessary to reconcile between them?

Reading the Quran and Hadith is better than reading stories of the righteous, for the Quran is full of stories of the prophets and their followers, and by contemplating it, we worship God and learn about the stories of those whom God has favored.

However, reading the history of Islam and its prominent figures is not a waste of time; rather, it is beneficial knowledge. The Quran itself guided us to read the stories of the ancients for admonition, as did the Prophet's Hadith.

One can divide their time to give the Quran and Hadith their due, as well as the science of history and the stories of the ancients.
