Wiping over the two socks is permissible under certain conditions. The duration for wiping for a resident is one day and one night, and for a traveler, it is three days and their nights. The period begins from the first event that necessitates ablution after wearing them. It is permissible to wipe over a new pair of socks every day, but if the worn sock is removed, the ablution becomes void, and the second sock must be worn while in a state of complete purity.
