Is it forbidden for a woman to wear colored clothes while adhering to the conditions of Hijab, and if so, is there any evidence for this from the Sunnah or the Quran, and what is meant by the garment not being an adornment in itself?

It is not a condition for a woman's hijab to be black. She is permitted to wear any color of modest clothing that is not specific to men and is not an adornment in itself that attracts attention. Allah Almighty says: (and not expose their adornment), and this includes adorned clothing. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade women from going out perfumed so as not to incite men, and this extends to everything that arouses desire, such as beautiful clothes and conspicuous adornment.

Therefore, a woman must avoid patterned and embellished clothing in front of non-mahram men. It is not permissible for a woman to go out in an embellished garment that attracts attention and tempts men. She is permitted to wear any color if it covers the 'awrah, does not resemble men's clothing, is not tight or transparent, and is not a source of fitnah.

Many women have chosen to wear black because it is farthest from adornment, and it has been reported that the women of the Companions used to wear black.
