Is it obligatory for each individual in a family to perform an independent circumambulation (Tawaf) and ritual perambulation (Sa'i) during Umrah, or is a single Tawaf and Sa'i sufficient for everyone? And is it permissible to distribute the actions of Umrah among family members to alleviate hardship?

Scholars differ on the ruling concerning someone who carries another person during Tawaf (circumambulation of the Kaaba): does the Tawaf count for both of them, or only for one? There are two opinions:

The first opinion (the majority of scholars): This is not valid. Rather, there must be a separate Tawaf for the carrier and another for the carried person, because Tawaf is a single act that cannot validly count for two individuals.

The second opinion (the Hanafis, and an opinion attributed to Al-Shafi'i chosen by some contemporary scholars): A single Tawaf is valid for both the carrier and the carried person, because the carrier intended the Tawaf for himself and for the child.

Therefore, one Tawaf and one Sa'i (running between Safa and Marwa) are sufficient for both you and the child you carry, or if you place the child in a stroller and intend the Tawaf and Sa'i for both of you.
