Who is Al-Tha'labi and what is your assessment of his Tafsir (exegesis)?

Al-Tha'labi's Tafsir (Al-Kashf wa Al-Bayan) was authored by Imam, Al-Hafiz, Al-Allamah Abu Ishaq Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Ibrahim al-Naysaburi. It is an encyclopedia of interpretive traditions (tafsir bi al-ma'thur) and an important reference for exegetes, hadith scholars, and jurists.

Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned that the tafsir contains many fabricated hadiths and innovations (bid'ah), and that Al-Baghawi abridged it, removing the fabrications and innovations. Therefore, a researcher should benefit from Al-Baghawi's Tafsir or the authenticated parts of it available at Umm Al-Qura University.
