Al-Baghawi was born in Jumada al-Ula in the year 433 AH and died in Shawwal in the year 510 AH or 516 AH in Marw al-Rudh. He was an imam from the imams of the Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah, following the creed and methodology of the Salaf. He left behind various works in Tafsir, Qira'at, Hadith, and Fiqh, including: "Sharh al-Sunnah," "Al-Jami' bayna al-Sahihayn," and "Al-Tahdhib fi al-Fiqh."
