How can a devout, veiled female employee deal with her liberal female colleagues who are hostile towards religious women and seek to have her fired by distorting her image and slandering her? Should she engage in debates with them? What are the recommended books? Is it better to leave the job?

We advise responding to the mistreatment by female employees with kindness and forbearance, and inviting them to Allah, recalling His exalted words: (Repel [evil] with that which is better). For whoever responds to evil with good, it is likely that the enemy will become a friend. If their situation does not improve, there is no objection to confronting them and complaining about them to the authorities. We do not advise debating unless one has mastery of the subject. Among the helpful books are: "The Return of the Hijab," "Guarding Virtue," and "Our Contemporary Reality." Remaining in the job is permissible if the Sharia controls are met and you are in need; otherwise, it is not permissible.
