A father may take from his son’s wealth what he needs, without extravagance or causing harm to the son, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “You and your wealth belong to your father,” provided that the father is not extravagant and does not harm the son. It is not permissible for a husband to take his working wife's money except with her consent. It is permissible for a child to travel for work or study without the parents' permission if the travel is safe and there is no fear of the parents being neglected.
