What is the jurisprudential dispute regarding the ruling on praying Asr by combining it with Dhuhr (Jam‘ Taqdim) for a traveler who knows or predominantly believes that he will arrive in his hometown before the time for Asr begins?

If a traveler combines the Dhuhr and Asr prayers by performing them early (taqdim) and arrives in his hometown before the time for Asr enters, his combination remains valid and is not invalidated, according to the Hanbali, Shafi'i, and Maliki schools. He is not required to re-pray Asr. The Hanbalis and Shafi'is have explicitly stated the validity of the prayer even if it was shortened. As for the Malikis, they consider the prayer valid, but recommend repeating it at its original time. The Hanafis, however, do not permit combining prayers during travel at all, except at Arafah and Muzdalifah for Hajj.
