Is it permissible to use medication to thicken a sparse beard?

Hanafi scholars have stated the reprehensibility of using anything that lengthens the beard beyond a fist-length. Based on this, there is no objection to taking a harmless medicine to thicken the beard, although it is better to leave the matter to its natural state (fitra) and focus on righteous deeds.
