Does a husband have the right, Islamically, to prevent his wife from working, given that she adheres to Sharia guidelines and balances her work with her home life?

If the wife stipulates in the marriage contract that she can go out to work without violating Islamic law, then the husband does not have the right to prevent her, and this is a valid condition. However, if she does not stipulate this, then the husband has the right to prevent her from going out, as it is not permissible for a woman to leave her house except with her husband's permission or for a necessity.
