What is the Sharīʿah ruling on a wife going out to work without the consent of her husband, who does not fulfill his duties, and what are the limits of a wife's obedience to her husband regarding leaving the house?

A wife must obey her husband and not leave the house for work or any other reason except with his permission, unless she stipulated going out for work in the marriage contract. Her leaving without his permission is considered an act of defiance (nushooz), unless it is out of necessity, such as obtaining something the husband does not provide, or to learn something that is Islamically obligatory for her. Therefore, she is not permitted to go out for work under the pretext of securing her future if the husband provides her with adequate financial support.
