The husband is not religiously obligated to take his wife to live with him where he resides, although it is preferable for him to do so. It is the wife's right that her husband not be absent from her for more than six months, except with her consent. If the brother orders his sister to leave her husband's house and not speak with him, he is sinful because he is corrupting her against her husband. It is not permissible for a woman to leave her husband's house without his permission, even if she is in her parents' house. If she leaves without his permission, she is considered disobedient (nashiz) and forfeits her right to financial support.
