What is the ruling regarding a wife leaving her husband's home without his permission to go to her family's house, and is the husband obligated to bring her back, or should she return by herself?

If the wife leaves the house without a legitimate Sharia (definition)-compliant excuse, she is considered disobedient (nashiz) and commits a sin. However, if her departure is for an excuse, such as her dissatisfaction with her in-laws living with her, then there is no blame upon her, for she has the right to an independent home. The husband is not obligated to come and take his wife to his home unless this has become the customary practice. It is advised that the relationship between the wife and her husband's family be based on affection and harmony, and the husband should exercise wisdom in cases of dispute.
